Downs Memorial Award in 2015 for outstanding work in her profession, and John was named Financial Advisor of the Year in 2013.

Michaele McGreevy-Lawler
29 Years of Health Insurance & Medicare Experience
Michaele McGreevy-Lawler is the 4th-generation owner of her family’s namesake agency. Her great-grandfather, S.R. McGreevy, started McGreevy & Associates on March 1, 1915. Michaele hadn’t intended on following in her family’s footsteps, but a confluence of events drew her back to Sioux Falls in 1993. After her first daughter was born, her mom offered free babysitting if she joined the agency as a secretary; that offer proved too good to resist, and Michaele has been with the agency ever since. She obtained her license in October 1994 and became a health insurance specialist, helping to build the general agency. Today, she is the owner, responsible for daily operations, and maintains a small group of clients. Michaele focuses on employee benefits, marketplace individual insurance, and Medicare supplement plans. In her spare time, she enjoys reading (romance is her genre of choice) and spending time with family.
John Lawler*
24 Years of Health, Life & Disability Income Insurance, Wealth Management & Retirement Experience
John Lawler grew up in Iowa and met Michaele in college. The couple lived in Nebraska and Kansas City before a promotion with his company—and the birth of their daughter—persuaded them to move to Sioux Falls. He joined McGreevy & Associates in 1998 and focuses on small and large group health insurance; individual and group life and disability income insurance; and individual and group retirement planning and wealth management. John loves the outdoors and enjoys riding motorcycles, participating in sports activities, and spending time with family and friends.

Karla Rasmussen*
9 Years of Insurance & Medicare Supplements
Karla Rasmussen started out in the insurance industry immediately after graduating from college in 2013 and joined McGreevy & Associates in 2015. She focuses on individual health and life insurance and employee benefits, but her work touches on most of the services the agency provides. Karla is married to husband Cody; the couple have a son, Emmett, and daughter, Elise, who keep them on their toes outside of work. She enjoys reading, watching movies, taking Emmett and Elise to the park and playground, and spending time with her and Cody’s extended families—both have four siblings they visit with frequently.

1915
S.R. McGreevy Starts an Agency
Born in 1881, S.R. McGreevy rode horseback across the sparsely populated western frontier in search of life insurance prospects for Union Central before starting his own agency, McGreevy & Associates, on March 1, 1915. S.R. focused on selling life insurance and was licensed until he died in 1979.
1948
J.D. "Blackie" Makes it a Family Business
J.D. “Blackie” McGreevy was born in 1914, one year before his father started McGreevy & Associates. He joined the agency in 1948, making it a family business and ensuring his father’s legacy would carry on. J.D. focused on life insurance and retirement plans. He passed away in 1985.
1975
"The McGreevy Boys" Expand the Business
William “Bill” McGreevy joined the family business on February 1, 1975. Bill added health insurance as the company continued to grow and expand its service offerings. Together, Bill, J.D., and S.R. were affectionately known as “The McGreevy Boys.”
1993
Four Generations...and Counting
Bill’s daughter, Michaele McGreevy-Lawler, became the fourth-generation member of her family’s business when she came aboard on June 1, 1993. Michaele became a health insurance specialist and has been instrumental in building the general agency.
1998
The Agent Distribution Network Grows
John Lawler, Michaele’s husband, joined the business in 1998. His focus is on employee benefits and building the agent distribution network. The couple has two children who are employed in the health care industry.
